C70 immobiliser - Why hasn't this been recalled and fixed by Volvo??
I have a 2005 C70, wtih 45,000. I bought it off the lease in 2008 with only 25,000 miles. A week after i bought the car it wouldn't start. The immobilizer shut the car down. I have had the ring replaced THREE times in two years. (I have an extended warranty) It's still a problem. it starts 50% of the time. Not very reliable when you need to be somewhere on time...
The dealer I'm working with just keeps fixing it. But it's very inconveinent.
I want Volvo to own up to this problem. I see it's an issue for many c70 owners. OR is it just me?

the antenna ring surrounding the key is just part of the imobilizer circuit. The fine wire in the antenna does break.........my old 02 c-70 has had the antenna replaced several times...........in fact it is a "do-it-yourself-project". The actual key is also a culprit. Many times when the auto does not start, simply by removing the key and reversing it will allow the vehicle to start. Perhaps TECH has some up-dates, but most of us have simply learned that the system is fraught with issues and one learns to live with it. I know....no help here.
