Hello,...just recently purchased the remote (EBay) for my 01 Volvo C70 convertible that apparently the previous owner lost and did not supply to me when I purchased the car.Now the dealer wants $128.00 to program it because he says it involves a complicated software upload and will take at least an hour to do for the C70. Am I being handed a load of bull here, or is this in fact the way it is? I'm fine without the remote, but thought it would be a "nice to have" should it not be too expensive.

Is this something I can do myself?

Pretty sure the dealer is telling you the truth. I think I have read the same thing in other threads a while back and somebody confirmed what the dealer said.

 

That sounds about right I do them all the time. The labor is about $50.00 and the software is around $40.00. So that is the way to do it.

Yup...................I paid to have one programmed...............only the dealer can accomplish that service.
