Just got the (not so) good news from my local dealer that I need a new steering rack and anti roll bar drop link bars.

They showed me it up on the ramp and the rack has broken away from the mounting brackets on the passenger side, they also showed me where it had been welded before.

They want over £1100 to do this for me!!

I've been offered a steering rack part number P9461263 off a 99 V70 T5, but am unsure if it will fit my 2001 C70 2.0T Convertible. Does anyone know where I can find the part number for my steering rack or even better, does anyone know if this will fit mine, or know someone in the milton keynes area that can help me save money over the dealer cost?

 

I have a 2003 C70 converible with the same problem. Right hand bracket broken.
The rack was replace 3 years ago and has done less than 2000 miles.
Can these racks be dismantled and new brackets fitted from a scrap unit does anyone know?

Can it be welded in position or does it need to be removedc? OR is it not possible to weld?
Last question - will an 850 rack fit? Thanks
