Can someone tell me how the gear shift solenoid tells the ecu what gear it's in I have a problem with the transmission in D it changes gear from 1st to second then losses drive if i start in L then go to second then shift to D drive works. The fault code comes up with PO785 wiring shift/timing solenoid ECM/PCM TCM I also get P1618 TCM MIL ON request circuit high I have looked at the shift solenoid at the base of the gear shift seems to be working fine it retracts when brake is depressed Anyone got any advice

Hey you'll find the shift solenoids under the side pan on the transmission.
