Default C70 turbo questions

Help,,,

Here is the situation. I have a 1998 Volvo c70 HPT. Recently, I was on the freeway and I was doing 70mph and went to pass and punched the accelerator and there was a weird turbo lag and my check engine light went on blinking then remained lit. Took it to the dealer and he said that is was a cylinder not firing properly. He advised not to worry and just take it easy before its 125k mile tune up. Well since then, 4 weeks a ago,,, I have noticed that if I take it out of economy mode and into sport mode, I get a weird hesitancy when I kick in the turbo. Almost like if a car is running out of gas. Is my turbo going out?? I checked my plugs and they looked great minus the normal wear and tear. During 125k tune up,,,, do they do something to the turbo such as adjust is? Also,,,, when does major belt repair happen????

Side note: I also have been experiencing a weird noise coming from the engine (((almost sounds like a turbo whine when it is cold.))) It goes away after the car warms up to normal operating conditions. But if I drive it after I start it,,, I here the whine until it gets up to certain RPM and then is just goes away. Almost sounds like a gas releasing. Is this the turbo as well?

Any help or the certain same problems with other members would be well received. I am scared that these are a tell tale signs of some sort of major problem. I hope it is minor,,,, like I said,,, I can drive the car fine until it kicks in the turbo and then the "Spitting Sluggish†comes into play and the annoying whiny until the care warms up. All this has been getting progressively worse by the way.

Thanks,,,

Peter

I would do the tune-up and see from there.

Timing belt on the 1998 is 70,000 miles.

The Air pump is normal to come on when the car is cold.
That is how it is designed to work.
