Default Front end work

I think I probably know the answer to this question already, but I'm going to ask anyway. The lower part of the front air dam (where the fog lights are mounted) was heavily damaged by the previous owner by pulling over those concrete stop bars in the parking lots. There is actually a couple of chunks missing from the plastic and lots of scratches. How difficult is it to replace that piece and how expensive is it? Is it something the average handy person with decent tools would do or strictly for the garage?
Thanks.

Can the lower portion be taken off at all? I don't know if it can.

To me it seems like one piece. I would think you would need a whole new bumper.

Also I would get a V70R bumper if I were you, looks so good on the C70's. Or just stick with the stock C70 bumper.

Check Erie Volvo if they have any at good prices.

It is the entire Bumper cover.
It can be done at home.

Yes, you are right it is all one piece and is probably more accurately described as Bumper Cover.
Are there any suppliers of Volvo body components other than Volvo?
Any special tools involved for this job or any particulary tricky parts of the install?
Thanks.

Fairly easy.
You will need to drill out old rivets in the bumper ends by the wheel well. You will need a rivet gun to install new ones.

The Bumper only Volvo as far as I know. It will also need to be painted.

A V70R is a direct 'bolt on' for a C70??

I think so as long as it is the Pre 2001 cars.
When you buy the bumper cover it just comes as the outer shell.
You have to transfer the rest from your bumper.
The aliminum bracket locks in with tabs.
I have never changed one but Think it will fit.

After all the 850R bumper fits on any 850.

Mine is a 2002.............guess I will have to live with what I have! Incidently, last week I had Volvo download a transmission upgrade and the etm upgrade. It is amazing and unpredictable but the Volvo is a 'bunch' faster now! I also had the door panels removed and the window regulator and attendant pieces lubed with motorcycle chain lube in an effort to forestall the infamous regulator failure.

I mean as long as you buy a V70R bumper from before 2001. If you buy a 2000 V70R bumper it wil fit your car.
You have the same body style as the older cars. They went till 2005 on the old body style on the Convertables.

FYI was in the dealership here in Atlanta the other day and got a price for the bumper cover.
2000 C70 prepainted, $540.00
As long as there are no hidden parts that are not covered buy that price thats OK, but I would still like to find it cheaper.
Truthfully, I expected the price to be hundreds more than that considering some of the estimates I've gotten from them before.
