My car recently started spewing smoke. I took it to a shop and they told me the problem was the turbo. They quoted me a price of $1340. I canot afford anything close to this. There are a couple of salvage yards in my city with lots of volvos. I can get one off of any of them in stock. If they do not have any c70's are any other models compatable in terms of the turbo? I am mechanically inclined and feel that this may be something I can replace myself. Thank you in advance for your time and knowledge

 

Here is a list of Volvo's and what turbo is on which model in which year. Look your model up and then see if any of the other ones are the same.

16T Angled and 16T straight are different. This is just an example. So if you have a 16T turbo which is angled and you accidently take off a 16T turbo that is straight they are different and you will need a new downpipe to make it work right.

So if you have an angled turbo get an angled turbo. If you have a straight turbo get a straight turbo. And so on and so forth.

 

Call Erie Volvo and I'm sure they will know which ones are compatable. I'm not real sure myself. You will have to have the year and whether it's a high pressure or low pressure turbo. Is it a 2.3 or a 2.4 engine? Erie 1-888-865-8613.

 

Also make sure your vent system isn't clogged. That will make it smoke as well.
