The lamp for my shift indicator, 1999 C-70, is out. How does one access the bulb?

You have to remove the center console.
On your car it is a little harder to remove the console. You have to remove the back seat as well. There is 2 screws under the rear seat holding the console to the floor.
Then 2 screws under the armrest cubby. Then slide the e-brake boot towards the seat and remove. Then the console should slide up and back to remove.

Hopefully I will find time soon to remove the console.
