Default Love My C70 but need help?

Greetings! I hope somebody out there has run into this. My blower motor for the HVAC died and dealer wants over 2K to fix it. Don"t get me wrong-my dealership rocks and I would get s lifetime warranty but I am hoping I can do this one or I can corerce my spouse to do it. is it doable if you are not a mechanic?

Also - any ideas on a good headliner adhesive? I don't want to replace it - it just droops.
Thanks!

the reason it costs $2K to replace the blower is the number of parts in the dash that need to be disassembled to access the motor. Not sure of your husband's skill set - but that's not something to take on without a shop manual even for a skilled mechanic. Sorry to say, that sounds like your choice is the dealer or a factory trained Volvo Indy.

As to the headliner adhesive, I'd stop by a automotive store - particularly one that specializes in paint and body repair parts and see what they recommend, but here's a write up that recommends some well known automotive suppliers

Hi + thanks for the help! I want to keep it until it dies but it seems like there is no end to the repairs. I certainly don't want to make it worse. Will check with a couple mechanics who have their own shops.

Headliners aren't too bad to replace if you do go that route. I picked up headliner adhesive spray from the parts store and it worked fine. I assume since you don't want to replace it, you wont be taking it out of your car and just stick the nozzle up there and spray around if possible.

I used the 3M brand adhesive on my old 850. Removing the headliner from that car was cake, idk about the C70 though.

The warranty time from Volvos standard time guide is 4.5 hours. Customer pay time might be 6 hours or so. And the motor is about $436 retail.
So 6 hours @ 150 (900 labor) plus 436 plus tax and extras might cost $1400. There is a special tool shown that Volvo thinks is needed (I've never personally replaced one of those fan motors so I can't say if it's needed or not)
Maybe get a detailed breakdown of exactly what Your dealer is doing for his price. (hours and parts)

"it seems like there is no end to the repairs" - Yep, I can certainly agree -

No! Do NOT use any glue off the shelf, and "do it yourself! The C70's headliner is a very tricky toy, and it needs a trained Volvo Tech who specializes in the C70 roof to properly fix the headliner.

Drive laughing!
