Take it to someone and have it inspected.

Definitely have it looked at.- I was just in this area looking for a c70 as well. This is a industrial part of the city with a lot of shady used car dealers. Not to say that these guys are shady- but you are not talking about the "Auto Mile" here.

Strictly European is a Volvo specialist that seems good and was reccomended to me by a VW mechanic that I really trust. They are only a few miles away from this dealership. Frank is the owner.

Zimmotors, on NW 27th Avenue has a nice red one on the lot right now as well. Their pricing seems high though- at least what is advertised on their website- the c70 is not on the website- but it was in the lotas ofJanuary 3rd.

Good luck.

Actually, The red one on the lot is mine! I bought that one via ebay over the Holidays. I looked at several C70 options over ebay and other local (to me in NJ) and out-of-state sources and the one from Mr. Zim was the best I found. I agree the cost was a bit high, but the guy was on the level with me and even offered to do the timing belt and water pump replacement for $600. Farless than the local dealers and still better than my mechanic would have done it for. Turns out the previous owner did the timing belt at 76K. Through carfax, I was able to see that the owner also took meticulious(sp?) care of the car every 3500 miles an oil change at the dealer, and all services as needed at their milestone schedules. He was fast at getting the sale done and hey, I think I got a good car. Now some may say, "but the car is still over ebay and how do you know it is still in good condition?". To be honest, I don't. I am going by the extensive amount of pictures that was taken of the car and the carfax report, plus the fact that there is 4 brand new tires on the car (could be crappy tires, but still new ones none the less). As an example of a car I was able to see and test on my own was a local used car dealer by me (about 3 miles out) that has a MY98 HPT C70 coupe with the same 17" Volvo wheels and about 3/4 ofthe mileage in the metallic blue color. The dealer let me take the car for about 30 minutes to drive and see how I liked it. God! It was awful! The tires were bald and mismatched, one having a buldged blister on the front wheel (can you say burnouts and abuse); one of the dash buttons on the left was broken and dangling; the engine would not rev past 4000 rpm; the leather was heavily worn in the front; the front headlight on the passenger side had condensation inside the lens; under the hood there was oil stains and streaks on the valve coverplus the headlight washer lines were cut andother issues on the car said to me, "get the F**ck away!". But for S&G's I decided to ask him about the past and the current condition of the car. He stated that he would just throw any old 'rubber' on to help sell the car. The broken button on the dash would be fixed, and he might go down a 1000 or so to sell the car. I asked on services and the Timing Belt and he stated that he believed it was done and looked under the hood to see if a sticker was present, he couldn't find one and went to see if he had it in the books. He came back and said he wasn't sure, then later he said that it wasn't done but don't worry it's not that important. To worry about whether the belt was changed or not is like "...worrying that the windscreen would get a crack later on from a stone, maybe it will maybe it won't, don't worry about it.". He also touted that the car was mechanically fine and he would not sell a car that was unsafe, but when I mentioned that the lines under the hood were cut, he just looked at me like I had 3 heads, and essentially said did I want the car or not, ugh! I had to get the hell outta that place. He was selling the car a full 3 grand more than what I got the car from Mr. Zim with shipping and tax! Even if he knocked a grand off, the car itself would have needed about $2500 -3000 worth of work just for me to trust it. So be careful and do your research and any other tools available to make your purchase. Don't discount Ebay, if you are patient and look at many cars and get Carfax, granted you don't get to know everything and some reports are kinda scarce in detail, but that in itself can help you make a decision without worrying about stuff. Good luck!

- Henry

PS: Sorry about the long post but I had to write this out as I still am in shock over the local dealer's crass attitude.

this is my opinion.. try to visit some auto shop store online they have highly trained assistant that will answer your question. This will help you a lot especially, when it comes to car parts like Buick Park Avenue fender.
