i just bought a 1999 Volvo C70 with 91,000 miles on it. The wintermode arrow keeps flashing and when it does the brake light goes on after that too. When that happens, both speedometer and odometer go blank on me and the car will hardly take off. Just yesterday when I was parking the car at home, the whole front of the car (engine area) jumped; sounded and felt as if I had hit something really hard when I hadn't. That only seems to happen when I put it on reverse though. What could it possibly be?

 

Maybe bad ABS module.
