I could use some good opinions
I recently sold my 94 non-turbo 850. I am beginning now to look for my next Volvo (what other brand is there!)....and am contemplating an S80 T6, or either another 850 with a turbo, or possibly an S70 with a turbo. I was VERY happy with the performance and reliability of the 850 I owned....my only reasons really for looking possibly at an S80 is because of the size of the car (I am 6'06"), and though the 850 was comfy....just thinking about the comfort in the S80.
OK kids....pros and cons time now......I always value your input! Thanks!

Hi
If you want to get a S80 you should definately stay away from the 99-01 year because they have transmision problems and other electrical problems like the ETM Electronic Trottle body failers. You should get a 2002 or newer S80. The 2002 model year is the first really reliable year for the S80. I have a 99 S80 and I had to replace the transmission at 114k miles at a cost of $4,000. I also had to replace the ETM at 80k miles at a cost of $900 but I got my money back because their was a recall. I had to replace something called a ECM at 90K miles at a cost of $800. I also had to replace the ABS control model at 100K at a cost of $800. But other then that it has been a great car. The car is very comfortable, the seats are like sitting on a sofa. But again the 2002 and newer ones are the good ones. Definately stay way from the 99-01 because they are trouble.

Wow....OK-thanks! I have a friend with an '02 S80 who never has had a problem....car has 177k on it now, but thanks for steering me away from those older than the 2002 model!! I appreciate your input!
I have a 960 (S90) which is very nice but the seats sit a little high. You may want to check one of them out. Not real fast but VERY smooth and holds it's own. Test drive it in the S transmission switch mode.
I totally agree with Ahmed. My daughter has a 99 S80 T6 and it's a great riding, good looking and fast car. But she has had many problems with it. Luckily most have been taken care of by the dealer at very littl cost to her.
If I were you I would also consider the 02 and later V70's. They are on the same chasis as the S80. Personally I want and 05 or newer XC90 with a V8, but you will be over $30K for one of those right now. Can NOT go wrong with an 850 R, T5R or and 98 V/S70 T5.
