Default New driver side window regulator

My mechanic is telling me it is a $950 part to replace my window regulator and motor. I am clueless and new to the C70. That estimate seems steep to me. Does anyone know anything comparable

what year? You can confirm part prices by looking at dealer stores like Tasca Parts, then use that part number on google to see who sells after market. That will also tell you if the regulator and motor are one unit. You may also find there are issues with the rollers in the regulator. What exactly is going on - ie totally dead, gets stuck halfway etc? Has anyone started the diagnostics to check for power to the motor etc or did you just ask for price on the part?

it’s a 2004 and the regulator and motor are one piece due to it being a convertible. It is totally dead and I have found comparable prices around $700 and the mechanic said due to the complexity of the window it would be multiple hours of work ($100 per hour}.

did you run power directly to the motor to determine its deadness? Tasca has the best price for the regulator at $660. Another option is to see if you can find a used regulator with the motor from a Volvo friendly yard like Erie VoVo then use a regulator repair kit for the cables etc for about $50

The window regulators are a structural part of the door - very expensive and very time consuming to replace and adjust. Whoever puts it in will need a couple extra parts - the funny looking bolts #16 in the diagram - they always seem to get destroyed. You might want to make sure whoever does this job has done one before - if you want the window to fit properly.
