Just get a decent Synthetic power steering fluid. DO NOT USE ATF.

Hey Tech-

I've got a 99 S70 GLT (AWD) w/ 117K miles and the power steering fluid is low. You said above to get a decent synthetic power steering fluid. What kind would be decent and do you know what parts stores might carry it? Also, I'm looking to replace the shocks. Do you have any suggestions on type and price? Lastly, what kind of tune up (other than oil change) would you recommend to keep the car running well?

Thanks for your help

At work we use Valvoline synthetic power steering fluid.

For the suspension check out the post in the general section about links to sites. You should find many with suspension parts.

There isn't much to do for a tune up beside filters and spark plugs.

I'm reviving this old thread.

I have a 98 V70 2wd no turbo. My owners manual is MIA.
I checked the PS the other day and noticed it is down, but not empty.
I'd like to top it up, but am confused by what it should take?

It looks brownish/red in colour. I do not recall ever adding PS fluid to this car, I'm not the original owner.

^Bumping for this.

Slightly confused on a '98 C70. did the design of power steering components change in 1999, or did they switch from ATF to Syn steering fluid in 1999 for some other benefit?

So, for 1998 cars, Atf, or synthetic Steering fluid?
