Default Rear fog light

So I noticed that one of my rear fog lights were out. So I bought a replacement bulb and swapped it out...still no light. Tried the working bulb, still no light. When I looked at the plastic socket assembly, I noticed that the metal tab that runs across the socket is missing. Is there any quick fix or do I need to shell out for a new rear light assembly?

If you are in the US than you only have one.
It is suppoded to be against the law to have both working.

so if I'm only supposed to have one, then why are there 2 outlets? Why is it illegal?

If the contacts for the bulb aren't there then thats how they set it up so it doesn't work.

The lights are supposed to be to bright.

Have heard many story's about people wiring the second one in and getting tickets for lights being to bright.
The cops also think the brake lights are stuck on.
