Default rear fog light question, unused socket causing problems

Ok, i have found my bulb position error problem, it is the unused rear fog light (passenger side). I took it out and put a bulb in the unused socket and the buld position error went away. Now I know that there is not supposed to be a fog light bulb in the passenger side (and it also wont fit in lense)but what goes in the empty socket to keep the failure light from turning on?

They aren't attached to the bulb failure system. When you took the bulb assembly out you might have made one of the burned bulbs work again.
I would inspect all elements really good. If you see them burnt replace the bulb.

I ended up drilling out the blank hole for the passenger rear fog light and putting a bulb in it and the light went out. Oh well, if it works i wont complain.
