You have a knock sensor that will adjust the spark (retard it) if the octane is too low. The high pressure turbo calls for premium............not sure about the low pressure. I can get by with 'regular' in my high pressure although the performance is compromised and I seldom find myself using regular. If you do not receive an answer to the grade of fuel in the next day, I'll retreive my owners manual and look it up for you.

I would use preminum or atleast swap every other tank from regular to preminum.
We have seen alot of cars with burn't valves lately which we believe is due to regular gas use when the cars require preminum.

yeah, i like to use premium in anything that has a turbo or supercharger or enough modifications to deem it useful to use premium. even porsche, if you put regular in it the ignition timing will be pulled way down and performance will suffer ofcourse.

today i filled up with 89 oct. cause the 93 oct. was way too high.

another question: how big is the tank on this thing? i pumped almost 15 gal. in to it and it still was wanting more [:-]

No you wont. I use regular mostly, but have started to use more of the middle grade now.

According to Volvo, your tank holds 17.9 gals of fuel. Volvo states in part: "Volvo engines are designed for optimum performance on unleaded premium gasoline with an octane rating of AKI 91 or above. The minimum octane requirement is AKI 87". Hopefully those quotes from Volvo will help you make your decision.

My gauge never reads full LOL only reads about 17 gal when full.
I usually get about 260 to 300 out of it. My trip says 50 miles to empty when I refill.
But guage usually in the red.
