Default Remove, stain wood dash panel?

I'd like to stain my wood dash panel a darker color. Anyone know how to remove it? Any ideas about how to prepare it?

I dont really think that it is wood it is most likely just a plastic and I think that they are glued on... you might be better off looking for a dash kit trim kit from someone like superior dash....

Auto stores have a red/white spray cans of 3M Adhesive remover. I have used on outside paint panels, no problem, don't know about interior panels. Suggest plastic scraper to remove trim. Interior trim panels are plastic on most vehicles, except RR &Bentleys. U can only paint them, & top coat w/clear. Did this with Krylon Hammered paint. They make paint just 4 plastics now. Home Depot & Lowe's has. I have replaced some trim panels with black mahogany using the original panels as a template. Good woodworking technigues required!

Agree. It's plastic, and any attempt at reproducing a wood grain look looks really amateruish.

The console may be plastic, but the dash panel and door inserts look and feel like wood.

"look like" and "feel like" are the key phrases. It is plastic.
