Default Snow tire question

Hi all. I have a 2004 C70 with 17" tires. I don't recall the tire size as I am away from the car but I think they are 225/45/17. I brought the car to the dealership for service and asked about snow tires - the said they would put on Pirelli's for $178 plus mounting and balancing. I am not to worried about the cost -- actually, not concerned in the least. I just want to make sure I get the right tires - and since the dealership didn't give me a choice I have temporarily declined and in turn I sought out this forum to look for some C70 experiances. Would you please let me know what has worked well for some of you? I was thinking of just putting two snow tires on the front and leaving the rear as they are. thank you

Never use just two snow's on the front or else you will meet the rear of your auto as it passes the front!!! I use Michelin Alpins on my c-70 and another front wheel auto that my wife motors around in.

Reg is right, never use only two snows. I would recommend the Gislaved tires, they are great and recommended by Volvo.

really? that sucks. ok - if I need to buy 4 than so be it. I was looking at the Yokohama Ice Guard IG721 they come in 225/45/17 and got rather decent reviews. These are $205 each - so I thought I'd get away with $400 but after reading your replies its sounding like $800 (wife is just going to love me now!)

I thought a lot of people only put on two snow's on front wheel drive cars.

In Canada it is against the law to install only two snow tires. Almost every garage I go to has a sign saying they wont install only two.

It doesnt matter, FWD/RWD/AWD. With snow tires, u need four. It s not safe to put on only two.
