Default Trans Fluid.

I finally found the trans dipstick. The level was good, but the color was alittle on the brown side. The car is 01 c70 5speed auto with 69k miles. Is this color normal? Or, should get the fluid changed out.

I've searched, and it seems theres no trans pan or trans filter to change out. Am I correct in thinking that?
Would a flush job and a Jiffy Lube type place be wise?
I read here to drain and fill 3 times. Why is it done that way? It does have me confused a tab.

thanx in advance

The color might be a little dark.
I would stay away from Jiffy Lube.
With the low milage might not be a bad idea.
Drain and refill only does about 3.5 quarts. Thats why you need to do it atleast 3 or more times.
A full flush takes about 12 quarts.

Ive always been cautious with trans flush. My reasoning always was, that the flush knocks loose little particles of clutches and clog oil passages in the trans.

Theres an aamco near by, never used em thou.

You can do a flush your self with a clear hose. You would connect it to the top cooler hose on the Radaitor.
Put the other end of the hose into a bottle.Start the car and watch the hose for bubbles. Shut the car off when you see the bubbles. Add 2 quarts throuhg the dipstick tube. Then continue till you run 12 Quarts through the system.

Hey Tech, I've got a 2000 convt. with 90,000 mi.
I asked the service guy at Volvo about a flush over 2 years ago and he said I should'nt touch it.
I've read that if you don't use the exact Volvo fluid you'll be buying a tranny soon.

Should I be concerned about getting a flush and is it true about the fluid?
I have no complaints about the way it drives right now.

OK, I would only use the specific Volvo fluid.
But, should I attempt the flush at all?
In the past with old domestic cars it was common to hear that if you did not regularly change trans fluid don't do it at all once it gets high miles.
The fluid is brownish, but does'nt smell burnt and as I said beforethere are no complaints about the way it currently drives.
I always try to do all necssary maint.,I'm just trying to judge the risk vs. reward of doing a flush now.
