Just got a quick question which direction clockwise or counter-clickwise does the caliper piston need to be turned to retract it back inside the caliper.

Clockwise I believe and you have to push in at the same time. There is a tool to do this that you can borrow from Auto Zone for free. It looks like this:

I found a deal an bought one.

Others have apparently been able to do it with needle nose pliers but I never tried
