Does anyone know what that mean's? I did try a wav format home made cd and nothing happens. The Cd inserts and ejects w/o a problem but when I go to move the source from AM >FM> Tape but no CD???

Sounds like the player is not recognizing the CD format. Does the car work with a factory CD? can you hear the CD spin? I've found you need to burn homemade music CDs on a slow speed or some car players won't read them. Also try cleaning the CD with a soft cloth to remove any finger prints etc.

Tried store bought , cant hear anything going on. When I spin the dial as mentioned I see tape,am,fm but no CD. I figure that the CD should show up if there is a cd in the unit or not.

So I guess its just had it ;-(

My '00 S40 didn't come with a CD player so I just went on eBay and found a used replacement for $75. Snapped right in. Just make sure you get the radio code if replacing with an OEM.

what model head unit does your car have? there's some other threads discussing MP3 adaptors (ie Grom) that plug into the CD changer port- a few others on the market so search eBAY, Crutchfields etc. I have to admit, the nicest feature of my '12 VW CC is its ability to take up to a 32G SD card (chip?) and plays MP3/WMA formats directly. That's 22 DAYS worth of music on one memory card!!! Simple solution is the tape player insert...

Just going tp try the cassette adapter and if that does not work well will just go in and hard wire a mp3 input. Not worth going any further money wise..

Thanks
