Default 03 S40 Speedo intermittent sensors ok

03 S40 Speedo works kind of intermittently. Sometimes it is working it will bounce a few times then drop to zero. Other times its at zero and you hit a good bump and it will bounce and start working. I checked the sensors and all ranged between 1772 and 1830 ohms except the driver front which read 0. I replaced and checked the new one and it registered 1772 ohms. After replacing I'm still getting the same issue. Not being a mechanic and using basic deductive reasoning, I figure it could be a cable or speedo itself??? Or something else I have no idea about. To eliminate the cables how do I check them? I should also note tach and everything else on instrument cluster works (except fuel gauge but that is another issue). There is no ABS or CEL illuminated. I checked with an OBD and no codes. I guess what I'm looking for is where do I go from here?

My suggestion is to pull the cluster and send it to a repair specialist. They will check every component and reflow the solder joints which is most likely what causes the problem.

Thanks for the info. I'll start looking for a repair in my area.
