Default Odometer STOPPED!

Hey everyone. This is my first time on so I hope I he some grey feedback. I have a 2004 XC90 tht I purchased used two years ago. After about a year I had an ABS light come on and the dealer told be that I needed to replace the ABS control module ($1000 plus). It drives and brakes fine so I have held off on the repair until I complete the payments (next month). I do not know if this is related but I just noticed that the odometer has not been moving since 134K. It's crazy right. I did notice when the ABS light came on that I could not access the trip logs and reset them. To my knowledge the odometer has been moving at that time (1 year ago). My wife drives the car locally so I never noticed. It's the craziest thing. I want to repair this but not sure where to start. Please share your insight and experience.

Thanks!

But the speedo works fine? If the speedo had stopped as well then maybe the sending unit down on the trans, but if the speedo is still work not sure. You may want to call BBA Remanufacturing and ask if their rebuild service corrects this issue.

The Speedo works fine. What is BBA Remanufacturing? How did you correct your issue? What type of cost was involved?

My issue was a classic P2 cluster display going out. BBA Reman does all kinds of electrical component rebuilding and offers a lifetime warranty on their work. In my case a DIY removal and reinstall cost $200 vs a $1500 dealer new cluster. I'm guessing the cluster in the XC90 may be the same, but yours is definitely exhibiting different symptoms than mine. Hopefully ES6T chimes in here. He should know what to check first. The first thing you need to make sure is that the problem is in the cluster and not a sender or wiring issue.

Probably related to the BCM being bad. If I remember correctly, the speedometer comes from the speed sensors on the trans. These communicate with the TCM which relays the info to the DIM (cluster). The mileage is calculated via the wheel speed sensors, which communicate with the BCM which puts it out on the network for the CEM and DIM.

Thanks much. I need to get this fixed ASAP. Can I have the BCM rebuilt? The dealer is telling me it's exclusive thru them and has to be programmed?
