06 S40 - Weak Air Conditioning
Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s really hot outside.
My AC and fan blows air very well, but it’s not that cold. I was wondering what can be done to make it colder?
I’ve seen AC Refrigerant Oil and things like that on Rockauto. But I’ve never done anything with AC.
Is there a simple way to make the AC in my 16 year old car stronger/colder?

An older system may have leaked very slowly for years. A previous owner may have done a bad DIY job messing with it. The refrigerant is put in by weight. Approx 1 Kg. (verify the specs) The first thing I would do is evacuate and recharge the system, installing the exact amount specified. During the removal/evacuation process a modern ac recharge machine will/can weigh the freon pulled out. Maybe it will be below what's specified, maybe someone has used a poor charging technique and introduced air into the system - but using a proper machine, removing what's in there, including whatever contaminants ( could be air) and recharging the system with the exact amount would be a good first step.
Well its a 2006 vehicle so 16 years old so the chance some gas has leaked out is 95% so just get it recharged you may be lucky as after that time the seals will not be great
Ours is a 2005 and the AC still works ok must a a miracle

Sound advise to have a pro recharge the system. They can insert dye to test for leaks and address - and when they vacuum/charge they will install the correct amount of freon and oil. If the prior owner had done their own recharging, you never know if you will wind up with too much or too little oil - both of which can lead to a more expensive repair.
