I am looking to purchase new rims for my 07 s40 2.4i. i dont know what offset i need or if these will fit...please follow link to ebay.

Just to let you know those are replicas not OEM.

The bolt pattern is correct so no problem there. 18x8 is a big wheel on any application. It may rub on the fender. I would go for a smaller 17". The 18" are bound to be insanely heavy as well.

 

18x8 will fit fine with a 225/40 tire. If you go any bigger you'll get rubbing.
Also Lyonsroar is correct about the 5x108 fitment not being a problem but the hub size from the P2 (S60R's) and the P1 (S40's) cars are different.

P1: 63.4mm
P2: 65.1mm

With the different size you may get some vibration while accelerating. But you can do one of 2 things to fix that....
1. You hand tighten down the wheels past spec. It will tighten them up just enough so you can get rid of any vibration while accelerating.

2. Get hub rings to accommodate for the difference. This is the proper fix, but because the rings are so thin, they usually don't last very long.

I went through all of this with iPd and H&M motorsports in Portland, OR about all of this when I was running wheels that had the 65.1mm hub size on my Old S40. I opted to forgo the hub rings and went with Hand tightening them down. It worked very well on my '05 S40.

Oh, and go with OEM Pegs or iPd replicas....

 

Matt - I found some 17 inch type r rims and think they will fit. Not sure what the hub thing is though...where should I get the rings from? How much do they cost? Would you suggest a 205/50/17? I want to stay as factory looking as I can.

You should go with 225/45/17. The 17" Pegs are 8" wide so 205's would be a bit of a stretch if even possible.
On both sets of my 18" pegs I have...
235/40/18 -854R
225/40/18 -S60R

For your car I would Definitely go with 225/45/17.

 

The ones I am looking at are 17x7...hey are coming off of a Volvo Wagon and have the volvo center caps. He is saying they are OEM. Should I still go with that tire size? What is the difference between a Titan and Type R wheel?

Both 17's" and 18's" were 8" wide.
