Default 14t turbo

Is it possible to put a 14t turbo in a 2000 volvo s40 while keeping most of the engine stock? Maybe an intake and a down pipe.. How much hp would it put out??

Volvos used different flange types for different model years so you'd probably would need to look at the two side by side. It does look like the S40s used both the 12 and the 14 so it's quite possibly the same flange set up. The number value refers to the pumping power of the turbo - I believe its possible to rebuild a turbo using the original casing/flanges and install a bigger wheel trim (ie take the guts from the 14 and put it in the 12... etc). The various wheels have a volume rating to match. There is a trade off between spool up time as well so the bigger turbo can pump more air, but needs a bit more rev's to get there. You may find a bit better breathing - maybe 10-20 HP but in real world, that may be a few tenths off a 0-60... Now if you also recurve the ECU (ie RICA sells a program) to up the allowed boost, now you can expect 40-50 HP - and if you put on a larger downpipe, fresh air box you can get maybe 60+ HP (putting the 4 cyl in the 200-220 range - which should be good for a ~6 sec 0-60 so you don't get spanked by a GTI.) Check out melett.com for their TD04 Mitsubishi parts to get some ideas. http://team-rs.ru/technical/images/TD04_turbos.pdf

I do plan on putting the biggest down pipe i can get... But i will put in an intake and possible do what you recommend, because i kinda want to get to the 250 range maybe. Is there any chance to put a bigger turbo while keeping the tranny stock or should i just take the flanges from the other turbos and make it bigger? What would you do if you were me?
What if i took the Stage 3 from RICA engineering. What would that do?

14T should be a direct bolt on upgrade.

Default 14t

They use different turbine housing and compressor housing but the 14t chra and compressor will bolt too the 12T turbine housing.

I've seen write ups where a 14T from a LPT S60 will fit but the housing needs to be rotated to allow it to align. I do like the idea of swapping the compressor/impeller into the 12T housing as that allows you to freshen seals and bearings via a TD04 rebuild kit. Even without installing an ECU tune you should get some performance benefits.

Default 14T upgrade

Any TD04L series turbo from12T-15T will swap over into stock turbine housing from 12T. The lager nozzle of the 14T does require you to remove the clocking pin from compressor housing to rotate towards firewall until itmatches up with charge pipe i used a aftermarket coupler and wastegate actuator so everything lined up perfectly. I bought a new 14T for a 2.5t s60 and used the mamba racing 9-6 stage 3 rebuild kit that has a extended tip billet compressor wheel 14T and lightweight highflow 9blade Td04l turbine amd forged thrust collars and surface with dual oil ports and step gap piston rings along with ported turbine housing and exhaust manifold and cbv block plate so i could run hks bov. Im running at 10psi with no tune and the actuator is adjustable till 16psi after a map from Upsolute i will run 15psi. If u just run a normal 14T a remap is not req

uired i also used all braided lines. Easy swapQUOTE=mt6127;479961]I've seen write ups where a 14T from a LPT S60 will fit but the housing needs to be rotated to allow it to align. É possível comprar um núcleo completo de um tdo4l 14 t e montar directamente dentro de um 12 t
Neste caso das volvos v e S40
