My wifes 2000 s40 is having trouble starting. I know it's not the battery or the battery connection, this has definately been ruled out. It's very random, sometimes you put the key in and turn it and the lights, radio turn on then you continue to turn the key but it won't turn over???

After several tries it will usually start but it seems to be getting progressively worse. Other than that the car drives great. I've read several threads with similiar problemsbut no solutions??

Any suggestions?

 

Sometimes the ignition lock cylinder will bind up not allowing the key to turn all the way to start. I would suggest you check that first by trying to start it and if it screws up, put more pressure on the key or wiggle it.
