i am looking to make around 300-400hp range in my 2000 volvo s40 the vin engine code is 25 its the B4204T2 i am wanting to know if that is a reachable number reliably with this motor and also what options i have for suspension and brake upgrades as these need to be done before i can add power.

300-400 HP is attainable but anything 300+ would probable warrant a manual transmission. ECU tunings (and performance parts in general) are not that easy to find for the Gen1s but the turbo is a standard TD04, so you can build that to almost any capacity. One you try to go over 250 HP in a 2.0 engine, there's a law of diminishing return on your $... Boost control bits? better plumbing? bigger intercooler, 3" downpipe, free flow cat can add up to $$$ and you haven't even opened the engine up for HD pistons and rods. For the Suspension, given you have a 2000 S40 with the old style strut mounts, you'd probably want to go coil overs. If you can find upgraded sway bars, I'd drop a bigger rear bar in. I'd also do a strut brace. As far as brakes go, you have choices on the pads, slotted or cross drill rotors and after market proportioning valves etc. Given the four bolt wheels, going to a bigger rotor from another model is going to be a tough find so expect $$$ for a big brake kit from a vendor like KSport. You may want to check out Stoptech's pad/slotted rotor kits as a more cost effective solution.

thanks for the info m8 the td04 is a mitsubishi part isnt it does that mean i need any special parts when building it or is it all the same regardless of the aplication, and i was also wondering what sort of options do i have in the way of a manual transmision or would it likley have to be fully custom.

Generally manual transmissions can carry more hp than the autos and should be good for 300-400 HP, so the only add on would be to see if you can get a limited slip differential (ie Quaife markets for various fwds). For building up the turbo, check our ARD Tuning's idea pages.

i have the same motor and trans. automatic b4204t2. Had it tuned by Upsolute. Now running 12psi and my scanguage says about 242hp at the crank. Sill on stock turbo and intake. Just freed up the exhaust a bit. Any suggestions? I'd like
to have it boost a little quicker and maybe add 20-30 more hp. Upsolute said they run it super rich up top
to be safe.
