Default 2000 S40 rear brake pad rattle

Ok, first the rear brakes wore like they were dragged, while the fronts stayed fresh? but I heard that is common on this car. Car was purchased new.

Second, I replaced the rear pads and one (inner passenger) of them won't stop rattling. It was fine when I did it, fancy tool and all, but after a few weeks the inner pad started to rattle. Did I miss something? I took it all apart the other day again, lined the 2 tabs (holes) by twisting the piston, and after 2 days it started again. Repeated the process today, but I fear the problem will return tomorrow.
So I am ready the next time, does anyone out there have any advice?

ps. this is the wife's car, so every day that it makes noise, I hear about. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME!

Is it missing any anti-rattle clips on the outside of the caliper?

You could try and apply some anti-squeak grease to the back of the pads if they came without the adhesive foil pre-installed.
Also a good idea to grease the two slide the calipper is supported on.

the pads came with a kevlar (I think) backing.
no springs, but that would appear to be what would fix the issue.
I'll have to go ask at Napa, these were their "hi-end" pads ? (perhaps that was the problem to start with!)
