2000 S40 Vibration at high speeds
my 00 S40 has 112000 miles and I just replaced the engine but I am getting a vibration. When I first started to get it I had the engine mounts and axle replaced, but I am still getting the vibration at about 50-70MPH. any ideas Please.
Check the rims. I have a very smooth engine, with about 105000 miles, but starting at about 75 mph I get a vibration too. When we replaced some tires I noticed that one of the rims was slightly bent from the previous owner. That may be the culprit. Good luck, and let us know!
Others having this problem have traced it to a front drive axle, specifically either the driver or passenger side inner CV joint bad. I've never had the problem with my '01 so can't verify for certain. The fix is a new or reman half shaft. (Called drive axle, half shalf, CV shaft. Many names, all the same thing) Connects the trans to the front drive wheels, 1 on each side.
