Default 2007 S40 2.4 bad etm/eta

So my s40 went into "reduced power" mode yesterday on the highway. plugged in generic code reader and codes for the throttle body being stuck came back. after 2-3 mins on the side of the road it fixed itself and i managed to drive home. today it happened again but its not going away and its still acting horrible.

Hooked up vida/dice and indeed shows the eta being the problem BUT it reports its angle correctly. it just cant move on its own. there are no obstructions to the plate and it moves freely by hand. when i send the command via vida to open up to either 25% or 50% or 75% or even 100% the plate does not move. but if i move it with my hand the correct angle is then reported on vida.

question.

1. is this eta/etm swapable with another or does it need to be vin coded?

2. is there a fuse for the motor that actuates the plate?

3. Any suggestions like opening this puppy up and just swaping the motors? I know this is wishful thinking.

thank you

Yours is the first I've ever read of an electronic throttle control going bad. I'm afraid you may be the pioneer for us all. Let us know what you find?

lots of posts on the s70/v70 boards about ETMs going bad. Check out Xemodex.com for getting yours rebuilt.

Resolved.

Just an update for those finding this in search. my situation turned out to be damaged wiring harness. no parts were replaced but I did open the atm and put back together.

all is well now
