2007 S40 Timing Belt Tensioner Question
I am trying to finish the timing belt install on my 2007 2.4L S40 but I am puzzled by the tensioner. The car has been sitting a week so the engine is room temperature ~68F. I am following the directions by starting at 10 o'clock turning the tensioner with 6 mm wrench until it gets to the right hand stop. I then adjusted the pointer to the center position and tightened the bolt. When I try to check pointer to see if it will move left or right freely it will not move to the left (cold position), but moves to the right just fine.
When I turned the crankshaft the belt was tight and timing marks were fine but the pointer still would not move freely to the left. I have tried multiple times to set it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
