Hi guys. I have a problem with my2003 S40 automatic. The key often sticks in the ignition and wont come out. The auto shift lever button sticks in also. The 2 are connected, as the key wont come out until i jiggle the stick back and forward to get the button to jump out. Can I take the cover off the stick to let me see the mechanism? Its a real nuisance as sometimes I had to leave the key in the ignition and lock the doors with the remote.

 

Usually a new shift **** is what fixes it. The bottom section of the buttom in the **** is what breaks and the swivel doesn't work right. Thats why you have to play with it to get the button to pop out.
