Default bulb, fuse or wiring??

I have a 2002 volvo s40. the drivers side low beam went out. Simple enough to fix, but when i removed the old bulb, the filament of the bulb was still intact... i replaced the bulb anyway, and it still did not work. I checked the fuse (#21) and that was intact.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do next.....test the plug wiring with an meter??? i am freaking out that this is going to be expensive...

Welcome to the forum Miss Betty.

Clean the socket with scothbrite , retry, then check for voltage at the bulb socket. (Carefull, If it's bi-xenon, the voltage is like 23K Volts) Try another bulb if it's hot.

I would check the wiring in the headlight and for the car. Check for power to the main headlight plug first. If you have power there then check wiring to light bulb.

yea check the wiring.. my s40 was in a front drivers side collision from previous owner and my light went out a couple weeks after I bought it.... went through all the steps you did then look at my wiring and that was the problem... just rewired it and all was good
