Default A/C Compressor Clutch on 2006 S40

I am new to the forum, but I used to use a Land Rover one that was really helpful.
Anyhow, I live in PHX and have 2006 S40 with 38K. I think that the clutch on the AC is overheating in hot weather and disengaging compressor.
Does anyone know of any remedies to the problem? To date, I have had no problems or issues. Now, I have one, which almost always tells me it is just the beginning and to cut and run. Dump the car in other words.
I seems a shame though because of the low mileage and I still like the car alot.
I have heard a story about pulling the shim on the clutch engages it and solves the problem. If that means the AC is on all year, not a problem here.
Anybody have any thoughts or input?

Reshim it you can do it without even unbolting the compressor on that car.

Default Thank You

Thank you for the response. I have not done any work on this car, but have had it since new. As a result, I have purchased a repair manual as I have with others. Which brand would you recommend if there is a choice?

Try THIS link from swedespeed, it tells you how to take it apart. I've done it as well. Substitue the m6 bolt for an actual A/C clutch remover tool posted a few posts below.

Smile Thank You for the replies which leads to another question

Thanks, I understand the issue and solution now and could probably do it myself. I am curious that if I take the car to a shop which bills itself a "Volvo" expert, will they have tend to have the same knowledge about this problem or are they likely to want to sell me a new compressor. I recognize that is almost impossible to answer, but I am hoping someone in the Phoenix area may use a shop with whom they have great confidence. I ask because I once owned a MB and Porsche. I had wonderful experience and confidence with the Benz shop. I think that I sent the Porsche guy's kid to college twice. Does anyone in the Phoenix area have a recommendation to a shop that they feel is competent?
