Central locking add-on
Hello folks please be patient its my first post. I've recently bought an add-on remote central locking kit for my 1998 S40, as it only has key operated central locking. When I recieved the kit (from E-bay) the instructions dont offer much help. Can any one advise where the central locking "control unit " is in a S40?
Thanks

Im not really sure on the 98 S40 we didn't get them here in the U.S. till 2000.
If you lock or unlock the drivers door manually does all the other doors follow?

What I would do is add an After market keyless entry system.Install a lock actuator in the door to the door lock rod. This way the one motor will do all the work. That would be the easiest way to do it.
The S40/V40 remote central locking system is linked in to Volvo's alarm system, so if your car doesn't already have this then I suspect you will need to buy & fit an entire central locking system from scratch, unless what you have bought from eBay contains the fobs, radio signal receiver, relay and a linked mechanism to open the driver's doorlock thus, as Tech has said, activating the other locks on the car using the existing key-operated system.
