Default check engine codes

i just got a reading on my 2002 Volvo s40 when my check engine ligh came on a few days ago. The codes are as follows:

P0705
P0444
P0700.

What are they in a 2002 Volvo s40? I have looked on the internet and the first and third (P0705 and P0700) have to do with the transmission, but the middle one P0444 I just do not know what that is.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Respectfully,

Google says P0444 is an evaporative emissions system problem. Further reading says it's probably not a bad gas cap, more likely a purge valve or Volvo equivalent. Anyone else experience this code?

Default Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve

The check engine code for P0444 is explicitly the following:

evaporative emission control system purge control open open

Now on a 2002 Volvo s40 where is this valve located? How do I check for it to be open? Is it not easier to just replace it?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As you're facing the car, it's on the top-right of the radiator, just to the left of the battery. Don't know how you test it. Here's a link for the part: Volvo EVAP Vapor Canister Purge Valve - Pierburg 9470775 | FCP Euro
