Yesterday when I pushed the clutch down to change gear, I heard a loud metal breaking sound and then found a broken spring on the mat (2-3 inches long). Is it easy to replace the spring? If so, can someone explain how to do it and where to get the part (2005 s40 2.4i 5-speed manual)? If not, what is the estimated cost for a dealership/auto shop to replace it? Also, it seems fine to drive the car, just the clutch feels softer when stepped down. But is it OK to drive without the spring for a long time? Thanks.
