considering an S40
Hey y'all im in the market for a new car and i was looking around and an 1999 S40 1.8 with 90000 miles has caught my eye as it is a beautiful car for not alot of money.
What questions should i be asking and what major parts of this car if any should have been replaced by now?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At 90K it should have had its second major tune up, plugs, cabin air filter change, etc. I would think by now it would have had all the brakes replaced. Check for routine service history-oil and filter changes, etc. It should have had a new battery sometime in there. I dont know about Volvo's and exhaust system relia bility but I would at least check the condition of the muffler for rust through spots.Tranny should have been serviced in there somewhere as should the coolant. 40's sometimes have front strut and tranny mount bushing issues so check that as well.Hope this helps. ya that tune up runs about 600$ so id make sure it was done too, I think Volvo can do a "used car inspection" for 100$, where they will check everything for you: tires, brakes, headlights, gear shifting, etc etc.
