CVVT intake gear no timing mark
I have a 2006 S40, 2.4l non turbo, B5244S4 engine, VIN: YV1MS382862154689, that was brought to me by my grandson. Broken timing belt and all 10 intake valves bent. He and a friend started taking it apart without regard for anything. I got it, more or less, with the top end of the motor in a box. I had the head checked and then rebuilt it. My biggest concern and current problem is that the intake cam gear (CVVT) and the exhaust cam gear do not have timing marks on them. I have been over them with a very bright light and a big magnifier. No marks! Not trusting the CVVT gear I got a new one. It doesn't have any marks on it either. I have the crank locked with the Volvo tool and have the cam gears locked in place with that Volvo tool. Here is where I need the help. How do these two gears go back on with no timing marks to speak of. Trying to get car back to him as soon as possible. New baby boy! I'm a Great-Grandfather!
