Default daylight running lights

Hi,

So i was driving for a couple of weeks a courtesy car (V50 2006) while my car was in shop for an A/C problem and i noticed that the low beam was stronger (intensity-wise) than the daylight running lights; My S40 has both lights at the same intensity; Is the low beam supposed to be the same or stronger than daylight running lights?
Thank you,
nita

If there is Xeon lights then daytime runners are dimmer than the Low beams.

Probably just regular Sylvania Osrams which are the European version.

Get some Sylvania Silverstars and you will be happy. Or even do HIDs which will have to be custom.

Would H7-type SilverStar Bulbs work for S40 2005? For some reason the volvo guide stops at 2002 models

Hi,

I purchased the Sylvania SilverStar 9006 (the twin pack) for the low beam as i was told by the salesperson from Autozone and they didnt fit the low beam but the high beam. And i asked him to check twice before buying the bulbs as once the pack is opend the bulbs cannot the retuned; Now i have very bright high beam (which i never use) and the same yellow low beam; Does anyone know the catalog number for the Sylvania SilverStar for the low beam (it is not 9006 although the autozone's computer says so)
Thanks,

nita

The S40 for low beams do use H11s. The high beams use 9005s. Currently from what I have learned at advanced auto parts, no one does make high performance halogen lights that are H11s. They do make them high performance at 9005s which I have just recently replaced with costed some $45. (speaking of which was a pain to do with IKEA directions) 1. Remove Pin , 2. Remove headlight casing, 3.Replace Headlights, 4.put back in the same way you took it out. (these directions are more or less verbatem from the manual) I even ended up scratching some paint while trying to take the casing out.

After I replaced one, I did a comparison between high beams and, honestly I couldn't tell the difference. I didn't want my efforts to learn swedish light design, and my new marks next to my headlight cases to go to vain, so i just replaced the other one so at least I would have a feeling of being high performance.

to me it seems that the silverstar (highbeam) are a bit whiter than the original ones; while changing the bulbs a managed to scratch the paint around the headlight housing too; it took me a while to realize the i have to push the housing from inside the hood to the side before pushing it forward;
unrelated question: does anyone know how much is to enable the trip computer (personal experience)? i purchased one ($21), installed it but now the dealer wants $165 for "activation". I was even thinking to purchase a com interface and try to enable it myself; I want to install fog lights but at dealership instalation and activation tops $450. Way too step.
