blower motor works,but air will not come out of front defroster. has anyone had this problem?

 

I'm having a real similar situation in my 2009 only in reverse. We're getting hot air, but it's only coming out the defrost. Ran the codes and had a 0071 and a 0078. The 0078 indicate that the damper motor that moves the air to the different vents has a problem. Talked to a couple of mechanics and it looks like the entire dash would have to come off ($900-$1100!) and the part costs $190. And of course it's blown 3 months after my warranty Talking to a Volvo dealership it sounds like this is a common occurrence which has brought me here to the forums. ANyone know of any recalls or action Volvo would be taking on this?
