I've noticed recently the front tires on my S40 have worn very badly on the inside edges to the point that I now need to replace the tires. I'm wondering if an alignment will be able to keep this from happening again or do I need to replace some suspension parts (I was planing replace parts anyway) to prevent this in the future. Is this a strut bushing issue or some other bushing? The right side tire is worn more then the left side and I've noticed that when making right turns there is a noticeable pounding feeling atthe front of the car.

 

I will bet the alignment is off pretty bad. Also inspect all the front end parts.

 

I have a 10am appointement at the tire shop today. I'm putting on two new tires and having the front-end aligned. They will also tell me if I need to replace any worn parts.

 

I will be waiting to hear an update.

 

My wife took the car in for the tires and alignment and the shop said that it only needed the alignment (no additional parts). I have not driven the car so I don't know if anything has changed. Time will tell if the wear comes from the same inside part of thetread.

Very important to faithfully rotate your tires and check your pressure.
If not those fronts will eat up fast.

 

I had been very good about filling with air but the way the tires wore on the inside part of the tread was rather unusual. I have never seen tires wear that severely on one side. My mother in-law has a 2000 V70 Cross Country AWDand that car eats up tires every 20K but they wear very evenly.
