I recently bought a 2001 V40. The owner's manual shows the tank to be 16 gallons. I just ran the tank down until the light came on (about 300 miles) and I was able to get only 11.4 gallons in. This figures to about 27 mpg.

Is something wrong with my tank that it seems it will only hold about 12 gallons?

This happens with me too. I have never been able to fill up the car to 12 gallon. The most I was able to put in it was 11 and half probably.

 

yeah I m getting around 26 mpg on a 2000 S40 with 155K miles on it! Pretty decent if u ask me
