Hi...new here, just bought a 2001 S40 for my daughter and it needs a FPR. On Groton's website, they have the whole shebang for just over $200. But they also have just the inner guts for much less. Why would I need to complete housing and guts if its just the guts that go bad?

Any help would be appreciated...

 

I think they just started selling the insert lately.

 

So is the insert all that's required?...makes sense to me but I've never replaced one of these.

I think the insert for the 2003 is the same as the insert for the 2001.
At least is was on mine.

 

Hey tatnic, I found the insert for my 2000 s-40 for about $90, and I did the repair about 6 months ago. It took about 15 minutes.
