Unhappy HELP!!! occasional hesitation going up hills

2000 S40, totally stock. No codes.

I have an occasional hesitation or "miss" going up hills with the car...very un-nerving.

I just replaced the original fuel pump, and just replaced the FPR.

Still has the same problems. on flat surfaces, the car seems to have zero issues.

I do have to change out the fuel filter still...but I'm far from confident that this is the culprit.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm running out of things to think of changing out.

My ideas/plans.

Clean Mass Airflow sensor.
Change fuel filter.
Confirm a good engine ground connection.

any hints/BTDT's?

thanks!!!

Replaced my fuel pump and relay and also still have the issue.. but not as bad as before so its probably a combination of repairs needed.

Changed the plugs lately? A failing ignition coil can also do this. And aggravating when they do because it may take a while to set a code.

Thanks for the info/reply! I agree.

I'm planning on moving onto the ignition system, as you mentioned.

I put in fresh plugs a while back, but they were rather cheap...I'm going to upgrade as I hear these cars hate cheap plugs.
New coils are on the list as well..

It seems the car is actually doing this all of the time, but it's the most notable uphills, but it's just more exaggerated due to the incline/ increased load on the car.

They can be VERY picky on plugs. And the exact number plug can be a challenge to find. I had to got to several different parts shops to find one that could even order them.

thanks, that's what I thought.

If/when I find a cure for this...I'll be sure to post it up.

I just changed out the plugs...
I had AC delco's in there, and upgraded to NGK platinum.

The car drives waaay better, and have yet to see the problem surface.

I truly hope this has fixed it.
