Default horse power

I am looking for ways to pull round 250hp at the wheels from my s40. It's a 2000 1.9t. I think it is rated 164,5 or so, meaning 140 roughly at the wheels, motor is strong(as far as I know, only 95,000mls), I just did a full brake and suspension replacement(thnx from those of u who answered my posts bout susp.{hudini, lukaspanic mainly}). this is gonna b a 6-9mnth project and really need input as the city i moved back to really doesn't support any volvo tuning. Thnx in advance guys

You can check a few other sites and see what others have done. Try www.SwedeSpeed.com and maybe www.TurboBricks.com. You can also check out the preformance mods on www.iPdusa.com and see what they offer.

Prepare to pull a couple of G's
If you are in the US then you have AT which has about 23% drive train loss translating to a proven 123HP at the wheels. To get to a point when you can say you are having 250 at the wheels is a long way to go also an unnecessary one.Tranny having trouble coping with 200-220 at wheels.

You would need to have:
19T or KKK24 turbo
modded 60R manifold or better
3" down pipe pref without a CAT and 2.5" open exhaust with whatever muffler
forged connection rods/pistons
min 630cc injectors
Custom ECU tune
Front mount inter cooler
modded air intake
You are aiming to get about 330HP on the engine.I dont say do not waste your money and time with this only advise against it.Settle for a good 200HP on the wheels using a 14T turbo.
Even then without suspension and brakes upgrade you would have hard time to put the power down.

Yea, I was thinking that would be a lot of power for a small car. Also, by increasing HP more than 70% you would be putting a lot of strain on other parts like tranny, axels, bushings, etc.

Are you trying to achieve some kind of track time? Say 13 seconds or something like that?

That actually wouldn't be too much and the fact that this car isnt heavy would make it a real sleeper.Performance comes down to weight/power ratio and even with the 14T this car can be at 10.5Lbs/HP.In Europe a 400HP+ s40 is fairly common beating Gallardo's.Only thing is a US model is lacking of is a way to transfer this power to the wheels. If anyone should wanna get more power should also consider a manual tranny swap which could end up $3K+.

I actually considered the manual swap, there is a shop back where I just moved from in Virginia Beach that will do it for round 3200$. I was looking at buying a s70 t5 round end of fall, so maybe I'll just save the cash and put it into the t5.I am gonna pull out the second muffler on the s40 and do some other minor work I guess. My flex pipe is new and is actually larger than stock, so I'll start there.still looking for a new hood, preferably carbon fiber. thnx for the input, any more is greatly appreciated
