Default I hate to beat a dead horse about this

Hi all, only second post. Please bear with me here, I'm having trouble with the Engine System Service Required . My car is a 2001 S60 Volvo Base non turbo . I have done a lot of reading on all the sites to see if I could do this with out bothering anyone about this. My cruise control works perfect so I don't think it is the brake pedal position sensor that is causing it to come on. In fact everything is working fine except for the message . Every time I get the oil changed the Engine System Service Required goes out. Then after 3 restarts the message comes back on the dash. The last time I had it changed I asked them to leave out 1 liter from full and they did, but it did not work it came back on again. So I put the liter of oil in after I got home. I had red where the oil to high on the dip stick would make the message come on. So I'm wondering if I should take out about 2 liters to see if the message goes out. Then I red about the mass air flow sensor being unplugged would have made the massage come on too. So I unhook it drive around till the engine light comes on and then plug it back in and clear the codes. My ETM may be the reason I'm not sure but I hope not $600. I read the codes in the message center and it says ECM set, CCM set, CDM set, DDM set and ETM set. What has me stumped it that it goes out when they take the oil out of the engine. Any thoughts or help here will be muchlly appreciated. Thank you.

Ok just to be clear, the oil change will not cause the the message to come on. Another thing, you are just naming things off that can cause a check engine light or a engine system service required message to come on. You need to to get the codes read in order for any of to be of any help.

Thank you for your help and reply. I understand that the codes need to be read. There just isn't anyone with a Volvo scanner in my area. 300km away from me. The normal OBD11 scanner dose not pick up any code because the is no engine light on to set a code to read. The scanners just say no codes to read. Also I'm glad to know that the oil change will not make the message come on thank you, I just don't understand why, when they drain out the oil the message goes out. Go figure.

I found out to day that I do not have to start the car to get the message to come on. I cleared the message with a OBD11 scanner and then I turned the key to num.2 position and off again, 3 times and it turned the message on again. Please does anyone with any experience about this message know what this might mean with out reading Volvo codes. Thank you.

A stab in the dark but could this be down to a faulty/dirty oil pressure sensor or a loose connection that is setting off this message?
I assume you renew the oil filter at each oil change but is the correct filter being installed? Some have a non return arrangement to avoid drain back that affects oil pressure I think??

Thanks for your reply. You may be right with a loose connection, I will look at the oil pressure sensor and see if the wire is loose thank you. I always change the oil filter at each oil change , not sure if it is the right one or not, I always use the Fram refill from CT. I look up the number in the book and then pick it out. But it could be the wrong one not sure of that, I did not know there were two different ones.

I am having the same problem with my 2001 S60 non-turbo. After 3 start ups the "engine system service required" message appears on the dash with the with the amber triangle light with a "!" in the middle. I use a scan to which shows no codes but does allow me a erase the message for 3 more start ups before I have to repeat the process.
