Default Hose Problem

Hi guys,

I just bought a 2002 Volvo S40 1.9T second hand, but I keep wondering why my Turbo hose begin squeeze when I give throttle a hard press (suddenly) but if I press the throttle slowly (from idle to 4k rpm), there's nothing happen with the hose. Is it normal ??? plz tell me what should I do.

This is the hose that i'm talking about (the "U" turn hose)

It should usually be pretty stiff. If the air filter is clean it should not in any way collapse under acceleration.

The Crome looking hose goes from the turbo to the intercooler on the bottom. Then the top rubber hose goes from the top of the intercooler to the throttle body. When you open full throttle the suction of the motor is what collapses the hose.

Well the hose should not collapse. That is setup like normal I think the hose is just old and to soft. Or there is a restriction somewhere.

Thanks yes it is a rare item here as well since there was only 185 brought to the U.S.

ok alan, thanks a lot, but now i'm thinking about to replace it with stainless or galvanize material, is it ok ? remember the prices from couples store i looked for [X(], i prefer to replace it with other material and it cost me less than the original rubber.

hey dude, are you seriosly ? there are only around 185 pcs in US ??? that's great thing then.

Yes only 185.

You can make it out of something else and cut sections off that one to use as the connector between what you make it with and the throttle body and intercooler.

To tell you for sure I would have to feel the turbo for myself.
If you still feel boost then the turbo should be fine. If it was locked up it would have less power than a regular 4 cylinder with no turbo.
